My Story...
Alana V. Allen is an award-winning nonprofit leader, faith-driven visionary, and founder of the nationally recognized organization I Am A Queen, where she has served for 16 years as executive director. She is also the CEO and nonprofit and grant strategist of Alana Knows Nonprofits, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in nonprofit startup development, grant strategy, and capacity-building for purpose-led organizations.
In addition to her nonprofit leadership and consulting work, Alana is the founder and prayer leader of When Women Pray with Alana V. Allen, a growing faith movement and community that empowers women to deepen their relationship with God, activate their calling, and walk boldly in purpose.
Since 2015, Alana has helped nonprofit founders incorporate their organizations, achieve 501(c)(3) status, build sustainable programs, and secure funding through strategic grant writing and development. To date, she has secured $372,500 in grant funding and more than $100,000 in charitable support for initiatives serving youth, women and girls, and education-focused programs.
A results-driven storyteller and strategist, Alana brings 18 years of public relations and communications experience across government, corporate, nonprofit, higher education, and agency sectors. Her expertise includes strategic planning, media relations, speechwriting, social media, program development, special events, and project leadership.
Alana earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications with a public relations concentration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and she is also a certified life coach through New Life Coach, Inc. She is a proud member of the Grant Professionals Association and a champion for women, purpose, prayer, and community impact.
