It's Time to Apply Pressure! (Learn how to write grants)

I say this with absolute love but it's time for you to stop playing small.

Yes, it's time for you to step up and take your nonprofit to the next level.

And I bet you're wondering, that's easy to say but HOW! "How do I take my organization to the next level?"

And I am here to tell you that it takes hard work and sweat equity.

It takes making an investment in your education, sitting in rooms or virtual spaces with people that do not look like you, and it takes asking questions.

For those who know me, you heard me tell you several times, I ran my organization broke for years until I learned how to write grants.

That's right! I ran I Am A Queen BROKE. There was no money because I didn't have a plan, I didn't know how to lead correctly, and I didn't know how to articulate the impact we were making.

I WAS PAYING FOR EVERYTHING OUT OF MY POCKET!

And then one day, I said ENOUGH is ENOUGH. I got tired. It got to the point that there was no more money in my pockets.

I surrendered to the process. I started taking grant writing classes to the point, I took them over and over again until I got it. I was relentless!

I found a coach who directed me to join the Grants Professional Association.

Y'all I had to learn how to apply pressure in the nonprofit by showing up, educating myself, and becoming accountable for our success.

And that's what you have to do. You must surround yourself with people who can teach you how to develop a grant proposal and how to find funding.

I mean this wholeheartedly, you have to do the work. There's no way of getting around it.

Just know I am here to support you and your efforts but NO MORE PLAYING SMALL.

For those nonprofit leaders interested in learning how to write a grant proposal section by section, join my Grant Proposal Boot Camp that kicks on Monday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET. It is a three-week course and the fee is $150 per participant.

The next class is April 4, 11, and 18.
