Description: The L.B. Research and Education Foundation provides grants to US-based nonprofits in two program areas—education and health—prioritizing approaches that address opportunity gaps tied to poverty, gender, race/ethnicity, and other factors, and that engage peers with lived experience. Education funding focuses on adolescents (generally grades 8–12), post-secondary pathways, and adult vocational education, and the Foundation does not currently fund early childhood or K–5 programs. Health funding supports research-informed programming in physical and mental health, including innovative methods that improve access and accessible mental health services that improve upon conventional practice. Interested organizations apply by emailing a 300–500 word concept paper and, if selected, may be invited to submit a full proposal 2–5 months later, there are no deadlines because the process is rolling year-round. Description: The Truist Foundation invests in innovative nonprofits that work with adults and align with its key areas of focus: “building career pathways to economic mobility” and “strengthening small businesses”. The Truist Foundation supports needs that are sustainable and don’t commit funds to recurring expenditures such as funding for a new program launch, a curriculum to expand or strengthen a program, equipment to deliver a program, and capital needs. The application process is open through Truist’s online portal with three annual deadlines (March 31, July 31, Nov 30) and decisions are communicated roughly four months after each deadline.
